As part of the Grow Urban Festival, a week-long celebration of urban nature, community regeneration, and green futures, this special event invites us to explore gardening not only as a physical act, but as a powerful energetic and emotional practice.
The festival brings together artists, growers, scientists, and visionaries across London to inspire deep-rooted change in how we design, grow, and thrive in cities.
Hosted at the iconic Ladbroke Hall, this conversation, introduced by climate activist and sustainability leader Arizona Muse, opens a portal into the invisible realms that fuel growth—both in the soil and in the soul.
Drawing on the pioneering work of Charles Dowding, whose no-dig gardening method has transformed approaches to soil vitality and natural abundance, and weaving in themes from Matthew Ingram‘ books The Seed Detective and the Garden, this event offers a profound yet practical conversation about energy, intention, and the unseen forces that shape our living environments.
Together, we’ll ask:
- What is really happening beneath the surface, both in nature and within ourselves?
- How can we cultivate awareness of the subtle, often overlooked energies that impact growth and wellbeing?
- Why is gardening such a balm for the human spirit, especially in urban contexts?
In a world that increasingly disconnects us from the natural rhythms of life, this talk invites us to remember that growth is not just physical—it’s emotional, psychological, and deeply spiritual.
“It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” – Krishnamurti
In cities, tending a garden can be a radical act of healing—for the planet, for the community, and for ourselves.
