Spend an evening with the Grand Union Tango Band and dancers Luiz Rodriguez and Elizabeth Knock at Ladbroke Hall. They’ll be performing works including Astor Piazzolla’s tango nuevo classics Oblivion and Libertango alongside traditional tango with works by composers including Horacio Salgán & Juan d’Arienzo.

And if that inspires you to move, after the performance join in a short “Introduction to Tango” lesson with Luiz & Elizabeth before we close out the evening with a “Milonga” open dance, welcoming both experienced members of the tango community and those newer to the dance.

The Grand Union Tango Band play traditional and modern tango from Argentina using the traditional quintet of instruments led by the bandoneon — the principal instrument of this evocative Latin American dance music — plus violin, guitar, piano & double bass.

The “Milonga” will be improvised by the Grand Union Tango Band in the classic “a la parilla” style from the great Buenos Aires dance halls of the early 20th Century.

Violin — Alejandra Gordon
Bandoneon — Mirek Salmon
Guitar — Javier Fioramenti
Piano — John Turville
Double bass — Jonny Gee
