We can’t wait to welcome back to Ladbroke Hall, West End star and recording artist Nicola Emmanuelle. Having performed to critical acclaim playing one of her idols, Ella Fitzgerald in the ‘Rat Pack Live at Las Vegas’, first in London’s Haymarket Theatre and then on a five-month National tour, she has established herself as the go-to girl within the UK Jazz scene. She will be singing her own material as well as original arrangements of the classic American Songbook.
“…the remarkable power of Nicolas voice finds a way of projecting these great melody lines with a laser like intensity.” – Jazzwise
“…Nicola Emmanuelle is the real deal. A charismatic, charming performer with a richly expressive, show-stopper of a voice, she’s a real throwback to the days of swing…” – Time Out
Bio
Thanks to her parents, Nicola grew up in a Jazz household. Her Father the great Nathan ‘Dambuza’ Mdledle, lead of the Manhatten Brothers and a South African Hall-of-Famer & her Mother, Louisa Emanuel a star in her own right with the 50’s group the Woodpeckers. After leaving college she immediately became a professional singer soon gracing the pop/dance charts and film world. Working on major film soundtracks with such luminaries as; Jonas Gwanga, Lord Attenborough and George Fenton, alongside Pop, dance music and musical theatre with legends; Pete Townshend, Mike Oldfield and Phil Fearon, she soon made her mark.
Nicola has performed all over the UK and internationally both with her trio and quartet and renowned big bands and orchestras.
Nicola was thrilled to be approached by the production company ‘Flying Music’ who wanted to know if she’d take on a previously untried role in the West End as Ella Fitzgerald in the hugely successful ‘Rat Pack Live at Las Vegas’ musical. It was an opportunity she grasped with both hands, stealing the show nightly in her West end theatre debut and then on tour across the UK and Ireland
Along with her Musical Director, Nicola has arranged a wonderful set of original self-penned works as well as renditions of some of the most iconic songs from composers such as Irving Berlin, Cole Porter and George Gershwin to make a fabulous set of live music she continues to perform regularly at numerous London venues including; Boisdale, The Ned, Crazy Coqs Soho House Group and Cadogan Hall.
Continuing to work solo as well as with her own band in London, across the UK and Internationally, Nicola is also a resident with the Len Phillips Big Band, touring three shows and is busy writing new material. As soon as she can get back to the studio she’ll be finishing the production on her new album. Containing some of her favourite songs from the American songbook along with original self-penned new works, it’s planned for release in 2024.
