Kieran McLeod is a trombonist and composer originally from Aberdeen. He writes high energy jazz music with interweaving melodies, drawing on influences from New Orleans to Scotland and from Cuba to South Africa. He will be presenting his new project with UK star pianist, Ivo Neame, playing original tunes in the best traditions of swing/bebop New York Jazz.

As a sideman, Kieran plays alongside some of the UK’s most influential jazz musicians, including the Julian Argüelles Septet & Iain Ballamy’s Anorak XL, as well as pianists Ivo Neame’s Dodeka and the late Keith Tippett’s Octet. He is also a key member of bands led by rising stars of his own generation, including the Calum Gourlay Quartet & Big Band, Daniel Casimir Big Band, Miguel Gorodi Nonet, and Dave Morecroft’s WorldService Project.

Kieran is the lead trombonist and an occasional composer for the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra (SNJO). With this band he has had the privilege of playing with jazz legends such as Benny Golson, Bob Mintzer, Branford Marsalis, Dave Liebman, Kurt Elling, and Courtney Pine.

Co-leading the Riot Jazz Brass Band and being a founding member of Young Pilgrims, Kieran regularly tours festivals across the UK and Europe. Alongside this, he is currently playing in the West End pit band for “Mrs. Doubtfire The Musical”
