Ladbroke Hall is excited to present an amazing mix of Afro-Cuban and Brazilian jazz, brought to life by two of the best in the genre — including the famous Afro-Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba, who’s been called one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century (Piano & Keyboard Magazine), known for his impeccable technique and rhythmic innovation; and the virtuoso Brazilian mandolinist Hamilton de Holanda, whose skill and creativity have revolutionised the instrument and Brazilian music.

The Collab between Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Hamilton de Holanda is the result of an electrifying fusion of Cuban and Brazilian musical traditions, showcasing the virtuosity and improvisational prowess of both musicians. Rubalcaba’s dynamic piano playing, deeply rooted in Afro-Cuban rhythms and jazz harmonies, intertwines with de Holanda’s dazzling bandolim technique, which draws from the rich tapestry of Brazilian music styles such as choro, samba, bossa nova, and jazz.

De Holanda has pushed the boundaries of traditional choro music while also incorporating elements of jazz, samba, and other Brazilian genres into his playing.

His performances are marked by dazzling speed, intricate melodies, and rhythmic complexity, captivating audiences worldwide. His unique sound and technical brilliance have earned him widespread acclaim, leading to collaborations with jazz and world music legends such as Wynton Marsalis, Chick Corea, and even Coldplay, to name a few. De Holanda’s contributions to Brazilian music have been significant- revitalising the bandolim and inspiring a new generation of musicians.
