For this evening’s concert, the award winning jazz flautist Gareth Lockrane will team up with a fantastic band of long-term collaborators for a high energy set of original tunes (some from his acclaimed albums “Fistfight at the Barndance” and “The Strut” as well as some new compositions) spanning influences from contemporary jazz, cinematic sounds, gospel and blues. 

 

Gareth Lockrane is a renowned flautist, pianist, composer, and educator with a rich and diverse career. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music and the National Film & Television School, Gareth has led projects like his big band, “Grooveyard,” and septet, earning critical acclaim for his compositions.

He has collaborated with jazz legends and top artists, including Quincy Jones, Bheki Mseleku, and Incognito, and recently featured as a soloist on soundtracks for major films like “Don’t Look Up” and “King Of Thieves.”

As an educator, Gareth has been shaping the next generation of jazz talent at the Royal Academy of Music and other prestigious institutions since 2011.
