Gareth Lockrane is a flautist, pianist, composer/arranger and educator and has had a richly diverse life as musician since studying jazz at the Royal Academy of Music in the 1990s (and also a masters in film scoring at the National Film & Television School), working in many different collaborations and projects. As a player, he has recorded withand appeared alongside a rich array of artists such as Bheki Mseleku, Dick Oatts, Quincy Jones, Phil Robson, James Taylor Quartet, Nikki Iles, Tom Cawley, Christine Tobin, Gwilym Simcock, Louis Cole, Miguel AtwoodFerguson, Jim Mullen, Incognito, Anita Wardell, Georgia Mancio and many others.

He recently featured as a soloist on the soundtracks for the Michael Caine heist thriller “King Of Thieves”, the Steven Soderbergh political satire “The Laundromat” and the widely acclaimed allstar film “Don’t Look Up” directed by Adam McKay. As an educator, Gareth has run the junior jazz program at the Royal Academy of Music since 2011 (seeing many astonishing talents pass through that course), as well as teaching regularly at degree&post grad level at the Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Trinity Laban Conservatoire and also teaching at Kingsdale Foundation School in Dulwich, a creative catalyst for many young musicians.
