Carpenters Workshop Gallery presents Caos Calmo, an exhibition of new functional works by Italian designer Antonio Marras. Best known for fashion, Marras here reveals paintings, drawings and sculptures that explore identity, memory and human complexity—while pushing his material and conceptual language in bold new directions.

Drawn to found objects with layered histories, the Sardinian-born artist is a pioneer of upcycling, transforming discarded materials through instinctive, hands-on processes. In the Cucito series, broken vases are stitched together with metal wire, creating forms that feel at once embroidered and surgically repaired. La Gassa D’amante reshapes decorative clay centrepieces into twisted, knot-like sculptures charged with movement.

The mirror series Conosci te stesso invites viewers to confront their reflection alongside raw ceramic surfaces marked by the artist’s touch. In his portraiture, obscured faces and unconventional materials—including coffee and reused book pages—speak to absence and erasure, reframing everyday objects with new meaning.

For Marras, art restores order to chaos. Caos Calmo celebrates his daring material experimentation and his poetic, emotionally charged approach to recovery and reinvention.
